Long Time No Post!

Hello! I have been "offline" for a while but am happy to finally report in with the latest...

I went back east last month for my post-op check-ups and all in all I got good news. Had a little surprise in that I needed unexpected surgery to take the plate out of my hip, but now I am hardware free...I knew the plate would have to come out at some point, but just wasn't expecting it at this visit. Spent a couple extra days at grandpa's though and got to watch lots of Elmo...yippee!!

Now I am home and am looking forward to the holidays. I am still in physical therapy and am now also in speech therapy. Since I wasn't able to move around for most of my life I had everything given to me. As a result, I never had to "ask" for anything so now I am getting some help so that I can communicate with everyone (since apparently I will not be given everything anymore without asking...oh well, it was good while it lasted). Anyway, I am making improvements every day and Mom and Dad are very proud of me :)

Here is a (semi) recent picture...I am a champion block stacker :) More pics coming (as soon as my Mom gets her act in gear and can load them).

Stair Master

Yes, I have mastered the stairs! And, it is my new favorite activity. I am scooting across the floor just to get there and then watch out here I come! I am really starting to "get my groove on" so Mom & Dad are finally starting to be put to the test of keeping up with me. Physical therapy is moving along and I am gaining strength with each day. More to come soon so keep checking back :)

Summer Is Here...

Well, it's been a while since my last post, but I have been quite busy. Still keeping up with PT twice a week. Made lots of improvement in my fine motor skills and am starting to build up strength in my "core" and legs. Need lots of strength to stand and am able to do so longer and longer every day. Still need assistance, but with practice I hope to be standing on my own real soon. Have definitely mastered the "army crawl". I scoot around the house after my cat Lexi like lightening now. Mommy and Daddy are getting ready to "baby proof" as a result. I am babbling quite a bit too. I know what I'm saying but it is so frustrating that no-one else understands! That has got to change very soon :)

Here are some pictures from July 4th weekend. Mommy and Daddy took me to the REAL pool and I absolutely LOVED it. Also had fun at the family BBQ. And, that's me and Lexi at the end (taken with Mommy's phone so it's a little fuzzy).

Pool Time!

Summer is here! Today was a fun day. I had my first picnic in the park then later I got to go in my Lil Squirt pool! It was my first time in any kind of pool and my first time in a swimsuit for that matter! Mom & Dad had fun playing with me and I had lots of fun splashing around...I stayed in til my lips turned blue!

Here are a few pictures capturing my antics...

Progress

Good news this week...My x-rays came back great and I'm now able to be out of my brace during the day (only have to wear it at night!) Can now wear pants again too if I want! Needless to say it is very nice to be FREE and kick my legs all over the place. I'm still being monitored so will have to see again in a few months how the brace is working, but for now I'm going to enjoy my summer!

Meanwhile, I've been standing A LOT! Can do it myself now, leaning against my ottoman, which is a big step for me. I guess all that physical therapy and practicing at home is paying off :) Oh, and I have a new ride!

Check out some of my recent pics---riding my car and working hard in PT!

My First Cupcake!

I had my very own cupcake for the first time tonight! It was a VERY BELATED 1st birthday treat. I have to admit I was a bit unsure of it at first but by the end I was hooked. My Mom thinks her chocoholic gene was definitely passed on to me. Unfortunately, once I mangled it to shreds and really started to dig in it was taken away.---Mom & Dad didn't want me to get sick. At least I did get in a bite or two beforehand :)

Have a 10th tooth coming in now too! All the more to eat future cupcakes with!!

2 Weeks of PT

I've now had 4 sessions of physical therapy. I am not really enjoying it, to say the least. I cry a lot. I'm being put in lots of positions I've never been in before and am not happy about it. I know it's all good for me but I think it's going to take a while for me to get used to the idea of it all. Mom is there, which is helpful, but I certainly would rather be elsewhere...like playing at home with my "Tub of Toys." Anyway, I am making some improvements, which is good, especially since it's only been a couple of weeks. I can't believe how many new things there are for me to learn. I actually have HOMEWORK (different activities to practice) after each session too...who knew I'd have homework at this age! Keeps Mom on her toes though :)

Also, got news this last week that I do not have the gene for brittle bone disease. Am waiting now to hear back from my doctor to see if he can figure out what IS causing me to have such soft bones and what, if anything, I can do to help improve things.

Oh, and I'm getting 3 more teeth...that makes 9! Can anyone say CHOMP!!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! My Mom is helping me put this together so that I can share updates with you, my family and friends, on how I'm doing and what I'm up to. For my first post I thought I would quickly recap the latest...

As most of you know I have been back from Johns Hopkins for a little over a month. I was very happy to finally come home and have been enjoying my "freedom" ever since. My cast came off my leg a couple of weeks ago and I started physical therapy last week. I will be going twice a week for at least the next month or so. I am working on gaining strength so that I can be moving and cruising very soon. (I can't wait to drive my Mom & Dad bonkers scooting around the house!) In the meantime, I am enjoying playing with all of my toys and taking walks around the neighborhood. I am experimenting in the food dept too but I have to say the majority of what Mom gives me winds up on the floor...picky me :) Perhaps I will expand my repertoire in the near future...we'll see.

Well, thanks for visiting my blog. I look forward to keeping you posted so check back soon:)
